Biology students are routinely required to produce a variety of written products, such as lab reports, research papers, and grant/research proposals. This course helps students gain proficiency in the written and oral communication of scientific works by using effective reasoning and interpretation skills. Additionally, it provides practical experience in experimental design, conducting scientific literature research, as well as drawing biological conclusions from published data and articulating those conclusions to an appropriate audience. CAPI 2100 - Introduction to Capitalism Studies An overview of the history and development of capitalism, since its rise and proliferation across the globe, with special attention to the last 300 years. The how and why capitalism changed during these centuries and the impacts of these changes on global society are explored. Students develop a richer understanding of the complex web of causal forces that link the economy, society, and culture. Emphasis is placed that capitalism is not natural or trans-historical, but rather is a social process, with a history of change over time.
