RELS 2158 - Bollywood and Religion


Examines how “Bollywood” – the world’s largest cinema industry – portrays and reveals key aspects of religious tradition found on the Indian subcontinent.  Topics include: religious experiences and perspectives with regards to communalism, caste politics, gender constructs, and family structures.  Knowledge of any South Asian language is not required, as all films have English subtitles. Fulfills the Cultural [C] or Textual [T] requirement.
