SOCY 4168 - Sociology of Mental Health and Illness


Mental health and illness in its social context; relationship between social structures and mental health/disorder. How social factors affect the definition and treatment of mental disorders; the effects of demographic variables on mental health and illness; the role of social support and stress; the organization, delivery and evaluation of mental healthcare services; and considerations of mental healthcare policy.
