BINF 6312 - Computational Comparative Genomics


Introduces computational methods for comparative genomics analysis. Topics include: (a) the architecture of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes; (b) the evolutionary concept in genomics; (c) databases and resources for comparative genomics; (d) principles and methods for sequence analysis; evolution of genomes; (e) comparative gene function annotation; (f) evolution of the central metabolic pathways and regulatory networks; (g) genomes and the protein universe; (h) cis-regulatory binding site prediction; (i) operon and regulon predictions in prokaryotes; and (j) regulatory network mapping and prediction.

Credit Hours: (3)
Prerequisite(s): BINF 6201  or equivalent.
