BINF 6313 - Structure, Function, and Modeling of Nucleic Acids


Topics include: (a) atomic structure, macromolecular structure-forming tendencies and dynamics of nucleic acids; (b) identification of genes which code for functional nucleic acid molecules, cellular roles and metabolism of nucleic acids; (c) 2D and 3D abstractions of nucleic acid macromolecules and methods for structural modeling and prediction; (d) modeling of hybridization kinetics and equilibria; and (e) hybridization-based molecular biology protocols, detection methods and molecular genetic methods, and the role of modeling in designing these experiments and predicting their outcome.

Prerequisite(s): BINF 6100  and BINF 6101 , or their equivalents.
