OPTI 6212 - Integrated Photonics Theory and application of optical waveguides, free-space micro-optics, and integrated photonic devices. Fabrication and integration techniques, including motivations for choice of approach (hybrid vs. monolithic, materials, size, performance, etc). Modeling and simulation. Students will be required to work with mathematical packages such as Matlab and/or Mathematica to illustrate key concepts and to implement beam propagation/optical modeling simulations.
Credit Hours: (3) Prerequisite(s): OPTI 6102 and OPTI 6104 . Cross-listed Course(s): OPTI 8212 .
