WGST 3156 - From Girl to Goddess: Quests of the Female/Feminine Explores female protagonists’ quests through careful analysis of literature and film through a comparison of the universal mythic structure of the Hero and Heroine journeys and archetypes. Focus is placed on how gender expectations and experiences impact the characters’ rites of passages. Themes examined are the quests for identity, personal sacrifice, relationships, and how cultural stories reflect deeper patterns in society.
