ANTH 2144 - Neanderthals and Us Explores the life, times, culture and fate of the Neanderthals. Using data derived from the fossil record, archaeology, and genetics, we will examine crucial questions about Neanderthals, including: Who were they? What biocultural adaptations allowed them to expand their geographic range and exploit diverse habitats so successfully? What was their lifestyle like and how were they culturally distinct from previous hominids? What happened to them? Do they have any relationship to modern humans like us?
Credit Hours: (3) Prerequisite(s): ANTH 2141 or permission of instructor.
