The major social determinants of health using the socialecological model as a guiding framework. Focus is on how differences in levels of these determinants contribute to health inequalities and poor health. Students read across disciplines and international boundaries to gain a broad understanding of social determinants. Students write a literature review paper addressing a key social determinant and how it influences health behavior and a corresponding health outcome.
