READ 5200 - Early Literacy and Assessment Research, theory, and instructional practice related to the reading process and reading instruction in the elementary school with a focus on emergent reading behaviors; phonics and phonemic awareness; balanced literacy; assessment-based instruction; and meeting the needs of diverse learners. Includes an extensive field-based component (approximately 20 hours).
