CSLG 7682 - Trauma Counseling An introduction to trauma for the counseling profession, where students are to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the dynamics, symptoms, and current treatments/ techniques that support the counseling relationship. Students are to demonstrate expansion of their knowledge and skills related specifically to trauma within the counseling profession, and think critically about how they might approach clients who have experienced trauma in their work as counselors. Students will be presented with case scenarios and counseling approaches to try, discuss, and struggle through potential methods of handling each situation. Additionally, students will explore self-care skills to prevent burn-out and promote optimal care for clients.
