READ 5111 - Essentials of Literacy Instruction Research, theory, and instructional practice related to the reading process and reading instruction in the elementary school with a focus on the essential components of literacy: concepts about print, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Emphasis is placed on instruction. Includes an extensive field-based component.
