Mathematical Finance, M.S., and Business Administration, MBA, Dual Degree


This dual degree program allows students to earn both a Master of Science in Mathematical Finance (MAFI) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Belk College of Business.

Admission Requirements


Students must apply to each program separately and be admitted to both programs by the published census date of the third semester (including Summer).  No admission requirements established by the Graduate School or by either individual program may be waived. See Mathematical Finance, M.S.  and Business Administration, M.B.A.  sections of this catalog for individual program admission requirements.

Dual Degree Requirements


Dual degree students must satisfy all individual degree requirements (Mathematical Finance, M.S.  and Business Administration, MBA ) with the added benefit of sharing a limited number of credits between the two programs. See the Shared Courses section below for permissible course sharing.

Mathematical Finance, M.S., Financial Data Analytics Concentration

The Mathematical Finance, M.S. program allows 6 credits to be shared from Business Administration, M.B.A. as follows:

Capstone Experiences


The following Capstone Experiences are required: 

  • Master of Business Administration:  Students are required to take MBAD 6194 .
  • M.S. in Mathematical Finance:  Students are required to pass a comprehensive examination.  An examining committee is appointed by the Graduate Program Director and is constituted from the program’s faculty. The exam may be, at the committee’s discretion, either written or oral.

Dual Degree Total = 54 Credit Hours


Grade Requirements


Graduate students must have a 3.0 GPA in the courses on their degree plan of study in order to graduate.
