LTAM 3260 - Slavery, Racism, and Colonialism in the African Diaspora


This course is designed to explore how race and racism, slavery, and colonialism served as principal institutions and constructs shaping the experience between Africa and the emerging African Diaspora in the New World. Students will consider how the maintenance of Western social, economic, and political superiority materialized as functions of these three important historical developments.
