CHEM 8147 - Molecular Photochemistry & Photophysics An investigation of the excited states of organic molecules and the photophysics governing the transitions between these states both radiative and nonradiative. Topics include: electronic orbitals, absorption, emission, potential energy surfaces, energy transfer, photophysical radiationless transitions, singlet oxygen and chemiluminescent organic reactions. In this course each student will develop and demonstrate a photochemistry laboratory experiment that illustrates a principle or problem, or new direction of photochemistry.
