EDCI 8120 - Literacy and Educational Public Policy Examination of competing definitions of literacy and development of literacy practices related to debates in American education public policy about the ends of schooling, the strategies of teaching, and the priorities of the language arts curricula. Evaluation of assumptions, reasoning, and research bases linking literacy to policy. Study of the historical and current methods of establishing district, statewide and federal policies about literacy education programs, materials, personnel, grants, and licensure.
