ECGR 6261 - Advanced Topics in Laser Electronics


Maxwell-Schrödinger analysis of interactions of light with atoms, Semiclassical laser equations, rate equation approximation. Effects of gain saturation, dispersion, spontaneous emission, and line broadening in laser amplifiers and oscillators. Laser power and frequency calculations. Relaxation oscillations, gain and loss switching, cavity-dumping, and mode-locking.
