HLTH 6281 - Measurement and Scale Development


The conceptual aspects of quantitative measurement in the public health sciences and the practical aspects of the scale development process as applied to individual and population health status and behavioral and social determinant assessment. Students progress from a conceptual model of the health phenomenon under consideration to item development, response scaling, item selection, and scale development through reliability and validity testing. Students develop a framework for judging the appropriateness of a measure for a given situation.
