HIST 2162 - African American Women’s History to 1877


Discusses the historical experiences of women of African descent living in the United States from the colonial period to the end of Reconstruction. Through themes like work, family, religion, identity, image, sexuality, and oppression, students explore how social, political, and economic events shaped the meanings of freedom for women of African descent.
