AFRS 2156 - African Civilization A survey of major cultural innovations and foundations of civilizations in ancient Africa; examination of the origins of ideas, beliefs, institutions, and practices; and the philosophical, religious, social, political and economic foundations of ancient African civilizations. Draws from a wide range of historical sources, especially archaeology, language, literary, oral traditions, and material culture.
