WGST 3155 - Disney: Gender, Race, and Empire Focuses on how ideologies of gender, race, class, and sexuality are constructed in early and recent animated films of Walt Disney. By examining the content of these films created within particular historical and cultural contexts, students develop an understanding of the cultural productions, meanings, and intersections of racism, sexism, colonialism, and imperialism. A close analysis of these films also introduces concepts in feminist film theory and criticism.
