CEGR 6254 - Experimental Soil Mechanics Experimental methods, with emphasis on laboratory tests, to determine engineering soil properties and investigate soil behavior; 1) classification tests (i.e., used to identify soil classification and identify general engineering behavior type); and 2) assessment of engineering properties, such as permeability, shear strength, stiffness, and compressibility. Primary lab tests to be covered in this course are: consolidation, direct shear, static tri-axial, cyclic tri-axial, cyclic simple shear, resonant column, and other advanced geotechnical laboratory tests. Also includes discussion on field sampling and testing, reconstituted samples, laboratory instrumentation, and measurement techniques.
Credit Hours: (3) Prerequisite(s): CEGR 3278 and permission of department. Cross-listed Course(s): CEGR 8254 Most Recently Offered (Day): Spring 2020 Most Recently Offered (Evening): Spring 2017
