SOST 2100 - Introduction to Southern Studies The American South has a rich culture and complex history that set it apart from other regions of the United States. This interdisciplinary course explores the major qualities that make the South so distinct and offers students the opportunity for critical study of Southern culture past and present from a variety of perspectives, including historical, literary, and popular culture representations of the region. Topics include: farming traditions, foodways, music, religion, sports, and issues of race, class, and gender.
