AFRS 2161 - The African American Experience: Civil War to Civil Rights Exploration of the African American experience from the Civil War to the present and the struggle of freed slaves and free people of color in garnering the promises of emancipation and the changing status of African Americans in American society. Interdisciplinary survey of key eras, issues, debates, and personalities in the African American experience from 1865 to the present.
Credit Hours: (3) Prerequisite(s): AFRS 1100 for majors. It is also strongly encouraged that students take AFRS 2160 before enrolling in this course. Cross-listed Course(s): HIST 2161 .
