Anthropology, Honors Program

The Department of Anthropology offers an Honors program in Anthropology which provides opportunities for exceptional achievement in the Anthropology major. 

Admission Requirements


  • Declared Anthropology major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 in Anthropology courses
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 overall

For further information, interested students should consult with the Department Chair.

Course Requirements (9 credit hours)


Experiential Learning Requirement (3 credit hours)


An internship, field school, or semester-long study abroad program approved by the Departmental Honors Coordinator.

Certification Requirements


To graduate with honors in Anthropology, students must:

  • Earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Anthropology courses
  • Earn a minimum GPA of 3.2 overall
  • Complete the Application to Candidacy process for graduating with honors, as directed by the Honors College

The honors notation appears on a student’s official transcript.
