Mathematical Finance, M.S., and Quantitative Finance, Master’s, Dual Degree

The Belk College of Business, in partnership with the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, offers a dual degree program.  Students in this program earn the M.S. in Mathematical Finance from UNC Charlotte and a Master’s in Quantitative Finance from NTHU.  Students study for one year at UNC Charlotte and two years at NTHU. 

Students gain strong quantitative skills in mathematics and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments and markets, and gain a solid understanding of finance, monetary economics, and banking regulation.

Admission Requirements


Students must meet the normal graduate admission requirements for both NTHU and UNC Charlotte.

Degree Requirements


NTHU Courses


The following courses offered by the program at NTHU can be used to replace corresponding courses offered by the program at UNC Charlotte, and each course will transfer to UNC Charlotte as a total of 3 credit hours:

  • Financial Econometrics
  • Stochastic Financial Theory
  • Mathematical Finance
  • Financial Product Design and Pricing

Credit for the above mentioned courses can be transferred to UNC Charlotte if an equivalent grade of B or better is earned.

Capstone


In addition to these courses, students are also required to pass the comprehensive exam through UNC Charlotte.  However, NTHU students may substitute the UNC Charlotte Comprehensive Exam with the NTHU Thesis.

Degree Total = 30 Credit Hours
