Mathematical Finance, M.S., and Finance, Master’s, Dual Degree (CUFE)


The Belk College of Business, in partnership with the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), China, offers a dual degree program.  Students in this program earn the M.S. in Mathematical Finance from UNC Charlotte and a Master’s in Finance from CUFE.  Students study for one year at UNC Charlotte and two years at CUFE. 

Students gain strong quantitative skills in mathematics and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments and markets, and gain a solid understanding of finance, monetary economics, and banking regulation.

Admission Requirements


Students must meet the normal graduate admission requirements for both CUFE and UNC Charlotte.

Degree Requirements


CUFE Courses


The following courses offered by the program at CUFE can be used to replace corresponding courses offered by the program at UNC Charlotte, and will transfer to UNC Charlotte as a total of 6 credit hours:

  • Financial Theory and Policy, 3 credit hours
  • Financial Institutions and Markets, 2 credit hours
  • Investment, 2 credit hours

Credit for the above mentioned courses can be transferred to UNC Charlotte if an equivalent grade of B or better is earned.

Capstone Requirement


In addition to these courses, students are also required to pass the comprehensive exam through UNC Charlotte.
