GRAD 8201 - Teaching at the University Level Designed for graduate students who teach or intend to teach in the future. Topics include: developing a teaching philosophy, constructing a syllabus, using student demographics and learning styles in the course design, managing controversial topics, incorporating active learning and critical thinking, constructing rubrics, assessment, and applying theories of cognitive development, learning, and motivation to the classroom. Students lecture throughout the semester in order to gain teaching experience and to benefit from peer review.
