MATH 1340 - Mathematics for Elementary Teachers I


Develops elementary teachers’ understanding of essential concepts related to the base-ten number system and operations. Students reconceptualize their understanding of the base-ten number system, including natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and percents. Students also reconceptualize operations within these systems and their properties. Students also develop their understanding of number theory concepts, including prime factorization, greatest common factor, and least common multiple. The content will be taught through a problem-solving approach. 

Credit Hours: (3)
Restriction(s): Must be enrolled in one of the following majors: Pre-Elementary Education, Elementary Education, Pre-Special Education. Math Level 2 or permission of department. Math Level 2 or permission of department.
General Education Requirement(s) Satisfied: Quantitative/Data Competency
