ESCI 1501 - Global Social Science: Environment, Society, and Sustainability This Global Theme course uses the methods and insights of the social sciences to explore the central question of what it means to be a citizen of the world. Through the study of one or more different peoples, societies or cultures across the globe, students will be able to better understand themselves as part of a complex, interconnected world. ESCI 1501 is an introduction to the complex interactions between human systems and global environmental systems, focusing on social science approaches to human imprints on the earth, environmental worldviews and histories, and the role of science in policy and social change cycles as we examine diverse global environmental issues.
