WGST 1502 - Global Arts/Humanities: Introduction to Gender Studies Around the World This Global Theme course uses the methods and insights of the arts and humanities to explore the central question of what it means to be a citizen of the world. Through the study of one or more different peoples, societies, or cultures across the globe, students will be able to better understand themselves as part of a complex, interconnected world. Students are introduced to the interdisciplinary field of Gender Studies sustained by the vast production of feminist scholarships and movements from around the world. Pursuing a globally relational approach to issues of justice and equality, students explore foundational theories, research studies, and activism that have generated local and global social change on issues regarding gender oppression and its intersections with other systems of inequality.
