Financial Engineering and FinTech, M.S. (Charlotte), and International Business, M.S. (NCCU, Taiwan), Dual Degree

The Belk College of Business, in partnership with the National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei City, Taiwan, offers a dual degree program.  Students in this program earn the M.S. in Financial Engineering and FinTech from UNC Charlotte and  one of the following from NCCU: Finance, International Business, Money and Banking, or Technology, Innovation & Intellectual Property Management.  Students study for one year at UNC Charlotte.

Students gain strong quantitative skills in mathematics and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments and markets, and gain a solid understanding of finance, monetary economics, and banking regulation.

Admission Requirements


Students must meet the admissions criteria for both the M.S. in Financial Engineering and FinTech at UNC Charlotte and the Master’s program at NCCU.

Degree Requirements


NCCU students will complete one year of study at National Chengchi University.  Up to 9 credit hours will transfer from NCCU to UNC Charlotte to satisfy UNC Charlotte degree requirements.  

UNC Charlotte Courses


NCCU students will take a combination of the following core and concentration courses at UNC Charlotte:

The following courses offered by the program at NCCU can be used to replace corresponding courses offered by the program at UNC Charlotte:

  • Financial Engineering and Innovations
  • Financial Econometrics
  • Investment Decision and Asset Management
  • Finance and Risk Management of Financial Institutions
  • Financial Time Series Analysis
  • Econometrics (I)
  • Econometrics (II)
  • Financial Derivatives
  • Bond Analysis
  • Econometrics

Credit for the above mentioned courses can be transferred to UNC Charlotte if an equivalent grade of B or better is earned.  A maximum of 9 credit hours may be transferred.  Other courses may be considered at the approval of the M.S. Financial Engineering and FinTech Program.

Capstone


In addition to these courses, students are also required to pass the comprehensive exam through UNC Charlotte.
