INTL 3114 - Cultures of the Caribbean An introduction to the peoples and societies of the Caribbean with special emphasis on the effects of colonialism, the plantation society, and the struggle for independence. Topics include: the nature of race, color, caste, and class differences in the region; the past and current effects of transformations in the international political economy; the implications of movements of populations to, within, and out of the area; and, the complexities of identity formation in colonial and post-colonial states.
