GEOG 3170 - Foundations of Sustainability At a time when having an interdisciplinary understanding of issues strengthens problem-solving, and collaboration, this course will introduce students to the foundations and various applications of sustainability. Students will learn about contemporary efforts towards sustainability at a local scale like the University and City of Charlotte, to global efforts. Students will be challenged to explore the benefits of and challenges to implementing sustainability. Examples of issues covered include but are not limited to sustainability in renewable energies, waste management, food systems, biodiversity, conservation and land management, geoheritage, climate change, populations and consumption, values and ideas of nature, public goods and collective action, and urban design and planning.
