ARCH 4613 - Introduction to Heritage Studies A theoretical exploration of heritage from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives with a focus on key contemporary issues and themes in the field. Critical, interdisciplinary approaches to heritage emerged in the late 20th century and conceptualize heritage as present cultural production that relates to the past to promote or establish value, identity, and development for the present and future. Critical heritage Studies seeks to engage with alternative intellectual and methodological frameworks to re-conceptualize heritage values and practices.
