Admission Requirements
Freshmen and Transfers Currently Enrolled Students Declaration of Major: Change of Major forms accepted year-round. Students must make an advising appointment during SOAR and when declaring the major. Degree Requirements
Students in the major must complete a minimum of 36 credit hours in English courses, including 12 credit hours at the 4000-level. No more than 12 credit hours in ENGL at the 1000- or 2000-level may be counted toward the major, with no more than 6 credit hours at the 1000-level. General Education Courses (31-32 credit hours)

Total hours to satisfy General Education Requirements may vary as some general education requirements may be double-counted in the major with departmental approval. Please see your advisor for information. Major Courses (6 credit hours)
Note:
*Remaining courses not taken as a Major Course may be taken as a Concentration Elective Course. Concentration Courses (21 credit hours)
Select seven of the following: Restricted Elective Courses (9 hours)
Select nine additional credit hours in ENGL courses at the 1000- or 2000-level or above, with no more than 6 credit hours at the 1000-level. Unrestricted Elective Courses, Double Major and/or Minor to Complete Requirements for Graduation
Students must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate. This requirement can be fulfilled through a combination of elective courses, a minor, or a double major. The 120-credit minimum must be satisfied regardless of the specific academic path chosen (e.g., a minor combined with electives). Degree Total = 120 Credit Hours
Progression Requirements
A GPA of 2.0 or above in all English courses above the 1000-level is required for graduation. |
