The Crime Analytics minor provides students with an in-depth and deeper understanding of how data is used to address issues related to crime and the criminal justice system. This minor requires 21 credit hours.
All program-level Admissions and Progression Requirements are in addition to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Admission Requirements .
Students must have completed CJUS 1511 Local Social Science: Foundations of Criminal Justice with a grade of C or better within two attempts and must have an established GPA of 2.0 to declare the Crime Analytics Minor.
Complete CJUS 1511 , CJUS 2370 (or POLS 2220 , or PSYC 2391 and PSYC 3292 , or PSYC 3291 , or SOCY 3155 ), and either STAT 1222 (or STAT 1220 or STAT 1221 ) before taking any Crime Analytics Electives.
To complete the Crime Analytics minor, students will successfully complete four (4) of the Crime Analytics elective courses.
Before taking any Crime Analytics electives, students must complete the following prerequisite courses: CJUS 1511 Local Social Science: Foundations of Criminal Justice with a grade of C or better in two or less attempts. They must also complete CJUS 2370 Research Methods in Criminal Justice (or POLS 2220 , or PSYC 2391 and PSYC 3292 , or PSYC 3291 , or SOCY 3155 ) with a grade of C or better, and STAT 1222 (or STAT 1220 , or STAT 1221 ) also with a grade of C or better. Once these courses have been successfully completed and students have at least 60 earned hours, they will select four (4) Crime Analytics courses from the list of electives.
