ECEI 2111 - Theoretical Foundations of Early Childhood Care and Education


A rigorous overview of the history of early childhood education (ECE), early intervention/early childhood special education (EI/ECSE), and the broader field of child and family studies. Coursework will focus on history, philosophy, theories of child development across domains, professional roles and responsibilities, best practices, contemporary issues, pertinent legislation, and the range of settings and environments in which professionals and families collaborate to achieve positive outcomes for young children and their families.

Credit Hours: (3)
Restriction(s): Must be enrolled in one of the following Fields of Study (Pre-Major, Major, Minor, or Concentration): Early Childhood Education and Intervention. Students must complete this course with C or better to proceed in their program.
