ECEI 3210 - Enhancing the Social-Emotional Development of Young Children in Inclusive Settings This course will review and analyze the social-emotional development and behaviors of young children, birth through kindergarten, in all early childhood settings. This course will explore young children’s social-emotional development; the effects of potential risk factors and disability (e.g., neurodiversity, communication delays) on social-emotional development related to ecological influences; evidence-based practices to support social and emotional growth and learning, including tiered behavioral supports, behavior support plans, and implementation efforts. Students learn how to conduct functional behavior assessments, prevent and respond to challenging behaviors, and build social competence in young children in a variety of early childhood settings. A corresponding clinical (ECEI 2412 ) will be required.
Credit Hours: (3) Restriction(s): Students must complete this course with C or better to proceed in their program. Prerequisite(s): ECEI 2111 , ECEI 2113 , and ECEI 2114 Corequisite(s): ECEI 2412 , ECEI 3112 (majors only), ECEI 4111
